On Friday, June 26th at Alice Turner Library, we were joined by the community to celebrate 20 Years of the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in Canada and 5 Million Books delivered to children through the program. Amanda Lanoway, Regional Lead for Dollywood Foundation of Canada, joined Nutana Rotary Club members Candace Odishaw, Betty Anne Arscott, Peggy Clark and Karol Komar for an hour and a half of reading for the kids, songs and music, coloring activities, cake and juice. A few of the attendees were currently registered in the program with us. We appreciate everyone coming out. I think club members had as much fun as the kids! View photos here.
Thank you to 600 CJWW, 92.9 The Bull, 98 Cool and CTV (Jeff Rogstad) for helping promote our event and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to the community!
Currently our online registration is closed until further funding is found. The Saskatoon Nutana Rotary Club recommenced the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in March, 2026 and as of of end of June, there are 259 children already registered into the program. These preschool kids, aged from newborn to age 5, will receive 1 book per month, addressed to them, delivered to their home. Helping children in our community get an early start to literacy is a main priority for the club. Research continues to show that having books in the home plays a vital role in early childhood development, school readiness and longterm education success. That's what we want for all children.
To view our Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Page, click HERE. On this page, if you are interested in enrolling your child, print off the registration page and mail it in to us. Applications will be approved once enough funding is secured. Also on this page, you can make a donation directly to our program, benefiting children right here in Saskatoon. A tax receipt will be mailed to you. Thank you!
