In August Vanessa O'Malley, an English as an Additional Language teacher at Nutana Collegiate here in Saskatoon, presented to the club. After her excellent presentation, the board agreed to support her request with a cheque for $1,350 towards Nutana Collegiate. This cheque will help them purchase e-readers which will be used by students learning English as an additional language so that they will have equal opportunity and exposure to the rich literature being taught in their academic classes. The e-readers support their specific learning needs by offering translation in their native language, dictionary and audio options at the touch of a screen while eliminating distractions that come with other electronic devices such as iPads.
